The Longevity Diet Summary
A diet based on first principles:
Our diet should reflect the diet our distant ancestors evolved with, and since 90% of human history was pre-agricultural and food was not always consistently available, this diet is low in carbohydrates and high in fats and protein, esp. from plants, with periods of food deprivation.
As omnivores we should consume a diverse selection of foods, specifically a diversity of fruits and vegetables.
Ancient humans didn’t have domesticated animals, so no dairy! There’s a reason most humans are lactose intolerant…
Tenets:
- Minimal sugar
- Low in carbohydrates
- High in plant fats (e.g. high polyphenol olive oil, nuts—esp. walnuts, almonds, macadamia, avocados, seeds). But avoid coconut and palm oils.
- High in cold water fish (wild caught)
- Low deuterium water (e.g. 130 ppm, sourced from northern mountains) Google Scholar
- If consuming terrestrial animal products, must be grass-fed organic, young animals (e.g. grass-fed meat)
- No dairy!
- Eat in 8 hour window, early in day better (e.g. 11 am to 7 pm)
- Reduce pesticide exposure (organic berries and green leafy vegetables)
- Eliminate processed food, i.e. junk food(e.g. gums, high-fructose corn syrup, aspartame, sucralose, hydrogenated oils, canola oil, corn oil, soybean oil, trans fats)
- Fermented foods are a great addition
- Drink lots of freshly-ground coffee and green tea (esp. matcha)
- Eat vegetables: broccoli, cauliflower, lentils, mushrooms, asparagus, beets, tomatoes, arugula etc!
- The best diet is no food at all! See how many days you can go only drinking water for maximum cellular autophagy. (Minimum of 2 recommended)
